Today we honour globally specialised health processionals called midwives.
With their smooth touch and facile hands they help babies enter this wonder world.
They offer care during pregnancy and child birth. They help pregnant women to know about health and hygeine, and the safety and security of the child to be born. They also provide education of child nutrition, importance of breastfeeding, newborn care etc.
They work in hospitals, clinics, health units, maternity units, birth facilities, private practices, home births, community, etc.
The 2025 celebration theme is:
“Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis”.
IDM 2025 is a call to action for greater recognition, inclusion, and support for midwives in crisis response efforts.
