We are all eco-comrades
And eco-travellers
In this vast universe
Towards our destination!
In this our Common Home,
We and all of them in the universe,
Planets and plants,
Streams and strawberries,
Rain and rivulets,
Drizzle and deluge,
Hills and hallways,
Mountains and meadows,
Canals and cascades,
Rats and rabbits,
Animals and birds,
Fruits and flowers,
Air and wind,
Roaming clouds and raging storms,
Stones and stubbles,
Mother earth and brother sun,
Sister moon and starry cousins,
Shooting stars and surging waves,
What a happy Home!
We are all one family!
We are all co-travellers on the road!
We share a common pattern
Life, birth and growth!
We exist, we live
We have our being!
Together we move,
We vibrate with one another!
We are called
We are called to promote life and growth,
To live and let live,
To let life thrive.
Our vocation is noble,
We are called to live with nature,
To vibrate and vivify,
We hear nature’s heartbeats,
We listen to its music and musing,
We are to be guards and guardians,
We are to be protectors and promoters!”
We also hear nature’s grunts and groans
When we choke and suffocate it
Through harm and hurdle,
Through perversion and pollution!
We hear its heaves and sighs
When our selfish urge overpowers us,
When we overexploit nature and its resources,
When we pander to our greed,
When we amass more than we need,
When wealth and riches
Become our gorging feed!
Then we hear eco-tremors,
Then we hear mother earth’s agonising groans,
Then we see nature bleed!
No, let us say No to our greed
Let us rein our urge for ego feed!
Hearken to God’s call!
To be true co-travellers,
To be true eco-travellers,
Who revel in love and care,
Who foster fondness and friendship,
Who eco-vibrate in word and deed!
Come, let our dictum be,
‘Live and let life thrive!’
We are all Eco-comrades!
