On World Day for War Orphans, we come together to honour the persistence and courage of children who have lost their parents due to the devastating impacts of conflict.

Across the globe, countless young lives are caught in the crossfire of war, left vulnerable and alone. Recent conflicts, such as the ongoing Israel-Palestine crisis and the war between Russia and Ukraine, have not only caused immense loss of life but have also displaced families, destroyed communities, and left thousands of children orphaned and traumatised.
These innocent children, stripped of the safety and love of their families, bear the heaviest burden of violence and instability. They face immense challenges, from lack of access to education and healthcare to the emotional scars of loss and fear. Yet, their strength and will to survive inspire us all to do better.
Today, let us reaffirm our collective responsibility to stand by these children, offering them protection, support, and opportunities to rebuild their lives. Most importantly, let us work tirelessly toward peace and reconciliation, so no child has to endure the horrors of war again. Together, we can build a world where every child can grow up in safety, dignity, and love.
