2024 Theme: Youth Skills for Peace and Development.
The purpose of World Youth Skills Day is to celebrate youth potential for developing their skills. Youth have potential for picking up skills. Be it village technology or digital technology, young people can develop their skills, given the right opportunity.
From rat catching technology to reaching the moon technology, youth are capable of developing talents for society and for world development.

Negative and violence-provoking skills are sometimes developed by frustrated youth.
Governments, training institutes, education centres, social institutes etc. have a great responsibility in channelising youth potential to useful and value oriented skills for peace and development.
