Students are the future of every nation.

On November 17, 1939, during the Second World War, the Nazi troops executed nine student leaders and sent over 1200 students to concentration camps. The Nazis had even closed all the Czech colleges and universities. The courage displayed by the students during this incident was unforgettable.

To commemorate their legacy, since 1941, students from all parts of the world started celebrating 17 November as the International Students’ Day. The day is celebrated to ensure education is available and accessible to all students.

Universities and educational institutions all over the world observe this day as an opportunity to display multiculturalism and diversity. Students are the future of every nation. These are the people and the minds that are going to take our nations forward.

No matter what their background or their field of study is, we should always encourage those who want to further their knowledge. The students being the future of any nation should be the prime objective of any society. The day is observed to draw the attention of the society towards the challenges faced by the student community.

Today, with the advancement of modern technology and drastic change in the way of living of the people irrespective of the class or caste, it is the students who have to cope with these changes and, at the same time, they have to live up to the expectations of society. Because of the nuclear families replacing joint family system, and employment of both parents, the students feel lonely and emotionally weak.

St. Xavier’s school, Sahibganj has always been trying to set an example for everyone about how to deal with the modern challenges in the field of education. The students from different cultures and section of society are admitted. We counsel frequently those students who lack in emotional strength.

Proper platform is provided for extra-curricular activities according to the diverse capacities of the students. Special attention is given to weaker students, because, for nation-building and for a better world, the contribution of every student is very important.

The aim of the school is to prove that education is enlightenment towards making its students better persons with clear perspectives.

On this occasion of International Students’ Day, we need to promise to ourselves that we will promote an atmosphere of enlightenment.
