It is the workers who keep the world going. More than the managers and planners! Yet, they have had to struggle to get a semblance of minimum human rights such as wages, rest period, health facilities etc. They keep on struggling!
Often the minimum wage, which is supposed to be a family wage, does not help to fulfil the needs of a worker’s family. Unfortunately, even with our best of intentions, we often do not respect the minimum wage requirement.
Workers sweat their blood out. If we deprive them of their minimum wages, it is their blood money we are enjoying.
“A man is not paid for having a head and hands, but for using them.” Elbert Hubbard
It is said that ‘work is an extension of the personality. It is an achievement. It is one of the ways in which a person defines himself, measures his worth and his humanity.’ Let us respect worker’s personality, his worth and humanity. This is the least God expects of us as human beings with sensibilities.
