Ocean is our life line. It’s having 97 percent of the world’s water impacts our life in terms of weather, temperature, food supply, transportation, entertainment, etc.

Oceans are rich in marine life, chlorine, magnesium, and calcium. They are said to be   a conveyor belt transferring global weather patterns.  They help regulate temperature. Someone has aptly pointed out that they act as an air- conditioner. During winter they act as heater and in summer as cooler.

Oceans are home for around 226,000 species. We humans cause much harm to the ocean and marine life. We cause global warming, and that, in turn, affects its life. Over-extraction of marine food and other items depletes marine species. Polluting ocean waters with effluence, waste materials, and oil spill cause much harm to the ocean. It is reported by scientists that greenhouse gas carbon dioxide turns ocean waters acidic.

Shall we keep on polluting ocean waters? If water is elixir of life, let us learn to love oceans by helping them live to their full capacity. One only hopes sense and sensibility will prevail.
