The dance of death is making its vulgar display all over in this Covid pandemic situation. It has taken the world by surprise.
Death and destruction resulted as if it were from a volcanic eruption. Sensible leaders with foresight and service mentality prepared themselves to prevent untoward casualties. They have arrested the gyrating dance of death in their countries.
Did our leaders wake up to the situation? Or, were they caught napping? Questions are emerging. The answer cannot be contained in words. It can be seen and experienced by looking around us at ground zero. Even life-promoting oxygen is scarce. Hospitals have not enough beds, ventilators or infrastructure. The sick and the dying wait on the road or in car parks to get access to the hospital counter.
Cremation grounds put up the signal: ‘Overfull. Sorry, No Room’! Empathetic doctors and medical staff are lamenting in utter helplessness. The nation itself is lamenting as the unending procession of ambulances and dead bodies is a frightening sight.
On the other hand, business has to flourish. Cricketers pretend to be unaware of this harsh reality. They are busy with pitch making and match fixing with vulgar dance gyrations. Sense and sensibility have been thrown to the four winds. Conscience sold to the god of money!
