The United Nations has designated 21 April as World Creativity and Innovation Day. The purpose is to raise awareness of creativity and innovation in all aspects of human development.

It stresses the need for a creative economy for sustainable development. Audio-visual products, design, new media, performing arts, publishing and visual arts, among others are seen as potent ways.

They can be beneficially used to transform the world economy in terms of income generation, job creation, resource utilization etc.  “Creativity and culture have a significant non-monetary value that contributes to inclusive social development, to dialogue and understanding between peoples.”

In a Covid ravaging world,  the  burning issues facing us today are:  the lives of people are shrinking into coffins, empty pots and pans of the masses revealing the stark reality of increasing poverty, unemployment, and, above all, and  viral waves threatening to overpower our human space.

Individuals, groups, communities, national and international leaders,  policy makers,  priests and pundits, scientists and artists – all have a role to play in utilizing  their energy, thinking and resources, both  material and spiritual,   to devise innovative ways to save humanity , to protect God’s creation and  interact with plants and planets for sustainable development.
