Christmas is considered by Christians as the birth of the Prince of Peace!
The world stands in need of peace. Peace in hearts and homes, in communities and nations. Covid the tiny virus has been more than an atom bomb wiping away the lives of millions all over the world. It has claimed the pauper and the prince. Death the leveller is having is sway.
It claims to stage a second coming in a mutated form. People are in panic. Leaders of nations are clueless to find the right remedy to avert the tragedy. Researchers and scientists are overworked.
Added to it is the terror of authoritarian rule and diabolical laws that have brought the masses on the street seeking justice and fair play. Men and women who have sacrificed their comforts and convenience to lend their voice to the poor and the downtrodden are termed terrorists and put behind the bars.
Megalomaniac rulers strut on the stage with pompous bearing and falsified images and curry favour with corporate business and flourishing tycoons and leave the poor out in the cold.
Peace appears to have gone hiding or been sent to the Hades and advocates of peace dumped in the dungeon. The silence of the grave does not augur well.
If peace is the absence of fear and terror, we need it badly. If peace results from a balanced social order and economic sufficiency for all, we need to demand it. If peace means jut legislations and honest judicial process, we need to question when they are absent. If peace is denied by road roller politicians, it is time they are shown the door.
Let the Prince of Peace enlighten our hearts and minds, strengthen us to stand up with courage and conviction and enable us to stand for truth and justice.
