Every child is a human being irrespective of colour, caste, creed, place of birth or religion.

Infant Protection Day is celebrated on November 07 to spread awareness about the need for safety of infants and protection of their lives through proper care.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is considered the first legally binding International instrument.

India ratified the instrument in 1992.

The important rights of the child in the UN instrument are the following:

  1. Right to identity
  2. Right to health
  3. Right to education
  4. Right to family life
  5. Right to be protected from violence
  6. Right to an opinion
  7. Right to be protected from armed conflict
  8. Right to be protected from exploitation

All children are  equally entitled to enjoy these rights without any consideration of race, caste, colour, language, religion, ethnicity, gender, or abilities.
