In India we celebrate this day as Good Fellowship/Fellow Feelings Day. A day to remind ourselves that we are all human fellows irrespective of caste, colour, creed, profession or birthplace!
Very often caste feeling divides us. Fanatical allegiance to one’s creed or belief provokes blind feelings of hatred and violence towards others. Even colour takes displays arrogance. Unscientific glorification of fair colour engenders colour pride in us. Power and pelf cause unholy feelings of inflated self-importance and belittling of others.
We notice such things while associating with people, while travelling in public transports, in schools and colleges, in government offices, in market places or even in places of worship.
Laws of equality, human rights, fundamental rights etc., appear to be confined to books and documents. Personal sensitization and social/community sensitisation are important to reclaim our lost space of fellow feelings.
