In today’s world, issues of women’s rights are being highlighted more and more by socially committed activists, advocates and organisations alongside increase of denial of rights of women by anti-social elements. Regressive forces threaten to deny women their rights to exist or even their human and fundamental rights.
There is greater need for awareness among all sections of society to promote women’s rights. There are good legislations in favour of women’s rights in different nations. But, when it comes to putting the laws into practice, there is resistance from many fundamentalist sections.
All attempts to curtail women’s rights, including their rights to freely decide upon all aspects of their bodies, sexualities, childbearing, health and nourishment, rest and relaxation should be condemned and resisted.
Legislations apart, the judicial system needs to remain alert and proactive in this matter.
