The riot of colours and the variety of nature’s items are a tasty menu of sumptuous feast freely given to us by the creator.
On May 22 the world celebrates biological diversity on earth.
Biological diversity means all forms of living species on earth – the variety of plant and animal life. This diversity includes plants, animals, fungi and microorganism.
Biological diversity boosts our ecosystem’s productivity.
Every species, small or big, has a role to play.
Greater species diversity ensures better natural sustainability for all forms of life forms.
It is estimated that at least 40% of world’s economy is supported by biodiversity.
80% of the lives of the poor is derived from biologicalresources.
We humans are co-travelers with all these species. Moreover, with our greater sensory, cognitive, and intellectual powers, we have an important responsibility to promote the upkeep and growth of biodiversity.
We need biological variety for breathing pure air.
We need biological variety for getting pure water.
We need green cover for getting rain and water for rivers and canals, fields and factories, for homes and gardens.
We need biodiversity for rest and relaxation.
All living organisms depend on biodiversity for variety of needs.
Let us learn to respect the presence of nature and nature’s variety.
Le us promote awareness in ourselves, in our children, in our students, in our friends and acquaintances about the need for respecting and loving nature and nature’s variety.
Our future and the future of coming generations will depend on how we promote and sustain biodiversity.
