Every family on earth is essential part of the foundation of our large world family.
The goodness of the family streams out into society spreading its fragrance.
A happy family is a rich family. It is not wealth or glamour that brings happiness and contentment to the family fold.
When greed and haste for accumulation mar the happiness of family life adding up to tension and frustration, family life withers. Whereas, a contented family is one without avarice and greed for accumulation of wealth, name and fame.
The family members may not be very wealthy or holding high offices. But, their hard work, their satisfaction in bringing up good children, their faith in God’s guidance and protection, their upright value system – all add up to their joy of living.
Today, during this Covid pandemic period, a tiny virus has held almost all families to ransom. It has stilled people into silent fright and instilled the fear of God in them.
It has claimed many lives of people who did not even get a decent burial or ‘send off’ by their bereaved family members.
Many families lost their work or business and many people remain under the clutches of poverty.
Many families are still waiting for their migrant working children to come home safe. Many are mourning the death of their migrant worker sons and daughters, run over by trains or vehicles as they were trekking hundreds of miles towards home.
At the same time, some of the well to do, who enjoy social or political power, remain unaffected by these tragedies. As long as they are buried in their own private world with enough to enjoy, their sensitivity and human feelings towards the hardships of people outside have taken a back seat.
Today, on the international Day of Families, we wish that all families on planet earth be blessed and protected by the eternal Supreme Power.
